Elizabeth Muir Postgraduate Prize winner of 2026, Rebecca Goobanko first felt the inescapable pull of music when she witnessed her parents performing in Les Misérables at just 5 years old. Singing and harmonising with her 4 brothers further fanned the flame into a keen passion for Classical Music and an exciting career as an operatic Soprano.

Rebecca is now a Master of Music candidate at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) under the tutelage of Dr. Margaret Schindler. Winner of the 2025 Linda Edith Allen Vocal Award, Rebecca has performed extensively in the QCGU opera program, most recently as The Widow in Elijah as part of the Val Machin Opera Scenes (2026), and as understudy in the Puccini double-bill directed by Lindy Hume, as Nella in Gianni Schicchi and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica. Her rising profile includes featured concert appearances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Rising Stars showcase, and in Voxalis Opera’s The Savages (2026) and A Woman’s Love and Life (2025).

In her free time, you can find Rebecca exploring and picnicking the many beautiful hikes of Southeast Queensland.
